Carbon X Credits has completed the sale and transfer of 103,750 BCarbon-issued carbon credits from its Walker Ranch project in Stephens County, Texas. The transactions include a 100,000-credit bulk purchase and a separate purchase of 3,750 credits. Both transfers are now reflected on the public BCarbon registry. At the request of the purchasers, their identities and commercial terms will remain confidential. Carbon X Credits respects that request and will not disclose buyer names, sectors, pricing, or other transaction-specific details without authorization.
“These transactions send a clear signal that high-integrity methane abatement is attracting real market demand,” said Whitney Landress, CEO and co-founder of Carbon X Credits.
Walker Ranch was developed to address legacy oil and gas infrastructure through permanent well closure, methane-emissions reduction, and land reclamation.
The project included the permanent closure of 23 abandoned and neglected wells, with 17 wells included within the credited project boundary. Baseline field surveys were conducted before plugging, followed by closure activities performed under applicable state oversight, post-closure monitoring, and third-party review.
Credits from the project were issued under BCarbon’s methane capture and reclamation protocol and are recorded through the organization’s public registry. The two completed transactions represent 103,750 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
In addition to its climate impact, Walker Ranch incorporates broader restoration work across approximately 5,000 acres. Project activities have included the removal of legacy well infrastructure, brush management, habitat improvement, native-grass restoration, pond work, and the return of disturbed areas to productive ranchland.
“Walker Ranch demonstrates what can happen when environmental responsibility and commercial execution are treated as part of the same strategy,” Landress said. “Our job is to complete the difficult work in the field, document it thoroughly, and deliver an environmental asset that can withstand buyer diligence. These sales show that accountability and commercial scale do not have to be competing ideas.”
In Carbon X’s experience, buyers are increasingly looking beyond generalized climate claims. They want traceable projects, documented field execution, credible measurement, third-party oversight, transparent registry records, and a clear connection between the credit and the underlying environmental work.
The Walker Ranch transactions demonstrate demand across different purchasing volumes. One purchaser acquired 100,000 credits through a bulk transaction, while the second acquired 3,750 credits. Together, the purchases show that a high-integrity methane project can support both large-scale acquisitions and more targeted credit portfolios.
The transactions also represent a significant commercial milestone for Carbon X Credits and its broader model of combining project development, permanent well closure, emissions monitoring, verification, land restoration, and credit commercialization.
The purchasers may remain confidential, but the environmental work and registry activity are publicly documented.
Carbon X Credits will continue working with qualified buyers interested in remaining Walker Ranch inventory and future methane-abatement projects currently in development.

Do you have old oil or gas wells on your land that you think may be leaking? Carbon X can help. Our team specializes in evaluating legacy wells and developing solutions to permanently seal them, stop harmful methane emissions, and restore the land to a healthier state.
Many of the wells we work on are aging, low-producing, or abandoned wells that no longer generate value for operators and often burden landowners with environmental and financial risk. By partnering with us, you can ensure your property is evaluated by experts, plugged to the highest standards, and potentially included in a carbon credit project that funds the cost of remediation.
If you believe you may have wells on your property that need attention, please reach out to our team on our Contact Page. Together, we can assess the site, determine the best path forward, and contribute to meaningful climate action while improving the value and safety of your land.
Walker Ranch: A Model for Methane Abatement In Central Texas, Carbon X has launched its largest field initiative yet: permanently sealing 24 legacy wells at Walker Ranch. Once some of the region’s worst methane emitters, these wells are now part of a groundbreaking project that combines advanced leak detection, high-standard plugging, and prairie restoration. The result: verifiable carbon credits and a replicable blueprint for tackling the 300,000+ legacy wells across the U.S.
Carbon X Credits completed two sales totaling 103,750 BCarbon-issued credits from Walker Ranch, marking a major methane abatement milestone.
