New York Climate Week 2026: From Field Work to Climate Finance

Each year, Climate Week NYC brings together leaders across business, finance, policy, technology, and climate to move ideas beyond discussion and into action. In 2026, Carbon X returns to New York with something tangible to bring to that conversation: real-world experience developing, measuring, verifying, and commercializing methane abatement projects.

Our work starts in the field. Carbon X identifies idle, abandoned, and leaking oil and gas wells, quantifies methane emissions using direct field measurement, and develops projects that permanently eliminate those emissions through well plugging and site reclamation. The resulting carbon credits are built around a simple principle: measurable methane abatement tied to a specific physical intervention.

What We're Bringing to New York

Climate Week gives our team the opportunity to engage directly with carbon credit buyers, corporate sustainability teams, investors, technology providers, verification bodies, policymakers, and other project developers working to scale high-integrity climate solutions.

Throughout the week, Carbon X will participate in meetings, roundtables, industry events, and collaborative discussions focused on:

  • Measured methane abatement: Using field data and direct measurement to quantify emissions reductions rather than relying solely on estimates.
  • High-integrity carbon credits: Developing credits that can be traced back to individual wells, documented field conditions, plugging activities, and verified emissions reductions.
  • Scalable project development: Building a repeatable model for addressing legacy oil and gas infrastructure across multiple states and regions.
  • Technology and monitoring: Integrating advanced methane detection, quantification, continuous monitoring, and other technologies to strengthen project transparency.
  • Climate finance: Connecting measurable environmental outcomes with buyers and capital capable of funding more methane abatement.
  • Collaboration: Bringing together landowners, well operators, plugging contractors, technology providers, registries, verification bodies, carbon buyers, and policymakers to solve a problem no single organization can address alone.

Collaboration Is the Point

Carbon X's presence at Climate Week is about more than showcasing our own projects. It is an opportunity to build the partnerships necessary to take methane abatement to a much larger scale.

The United States has an enormous inventory of aging and legacy oil and gas infrastructure, and the opportunity extends far beyond any single basin or state. By connecting field execution with rigorous measurement, independent verification, technology, and climate finance, carbon markets can help direct private capital toward wells that might otherwise remain unaddressed.

That is the model Carbon X is working to scale.

Meet Carbon X at Climate Week NYC

Our team has a full schedule throughout Climate Week, including meetings, industry events, and conversations with organizations across the carbon, energy, technology, finance, and policy communities.

Carbon X is also co-hosting a Climate Week Happy Hour with BCarbon and EarthOptics on Wednesday, September 23, from 5–7 PM in New York City.

If you're attending Climate Week and working on methane, carbon markets, climate technology, energy, verification, finance, or related solutions, we'd like to meet you.

Reach out to the Carbon X team to compare schedules or request details for our Climate Week Happy Hour.

See you in New York.
